Vehicular Manslaughter

It was recently reported that Melvin Pearles will be facing gross vehicular manslaughter charges for his involvement in a car accident that occurred in March of this year. San Diego Channel 10 reported on his preliminary hearing which took place recently. Pearles allegedly told the police multiple stories of why he was allegedly speeding when the accident happened. The stories included that he blacked out, that he had to use the bathroom, and that he was trying to get away from another car. The accident led to the death of 25-year-old who crossed over into oncoming traffic on Highway 67 in Ramona.

Vehicular manslaughter is different from voluntary and involuntary manslaughter. Vehicular manslaughter can be charged as a felony or misdemeanor depending upon the circumstances. Vehicular manslaughter is defined as a crime that results in the unintentional death of a person while driving a vehicle in an illegal manner.
